Itinerary 5 days in Puglia
day 1
Meeting at Bari airport (late morning). Visit with guide at the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, where the bones of “Santa Claus” are housed. Lunch in town. Moving towards Ceglie Messapica, little town well known for the culinary tradition. Accomodations at quaint hotel nestled among the Trulli, in a panoramic position. Dinner.
day 2
Breakfast. Day trip to Alberobello, a town whose heart is completely made up of trulli. Lunch on site. Free time to walk and to enjoy this lovely place. Return to Ceglie in the afternoon. Free time to rest. Dinner.
day 3
Breakfast at a popular bar / artisan bakery, where packed lunches will be served. Guided tour of the stunning Castel del Monte, personally designed by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia. The castle, with its unique octagonal shape, is an example of mysterious architecture that is unmatched in the world. Accomodations at hotel in Barletta. Dinner.
day 4
Breakfast. Arrival for lunch at Monte Sant’Angelo and visit to St. MIchael’s shrine, built in a cave where a long time ago the Angel appeared. Journey to sea villane of Vieste. Accomodations and dinner.
day 5
Breakfast. Boat trip across Tremiti islands, with packed lunch. Dinner.
day 6
Breakfast. Return to Bari (airport or train station).
